WELCOME to Term 3!
Thank you to all of the parents and carers who came to talk to us about their child’s progress in the classroom.
As promised we are ready to distribute the children’s Year 2 Diagnostic Net Reports. The Year 2 Diagnostic Net is a process of assessment and intervention to support children’s literacy and numeracy development during the early years of schooling in Queensland [The State of Queensland (Department of Education and Training) 1998]. The reports will indicate the phase level at which your child is operating in for reading, writing and numeracy.
Term 3 promises to see that we are very busy in our classrooms. To help us learn about our upcoming excursion to the EKKA, many of our learning experiences will focus on things we might find at the carnival.
For Maths, we will be using show guides to help us to develop a wish list for things we would like to do if we went to the show. The challenge is… we only have $40 to spend.
For Integrated Studies, we will be investigating forces used in toys and games. After we have learnt about these forces, we will be designing and creating our own toy or game and demonstrating the force that it uses.
For Literacy, we are focusing on how to write a procedure. This will help us to write instructions on how to make our toy or play our game for our project in Integrated Studies.
We are really excited about everything that we will be learning this term.
Feel free to drop into the classroom to check out our fantastic work.
